On Friday, March 27 (local time), Jia Guide, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, strongly condemned the United States and Israel for attacking Minab Primary School in Iran, which led to the deaths of 168 schoolgirls, during a session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Jia pointed out that the reckless attack on Iran by the US and Israel without authorization from the UN Security Council is the root cause of this tragedy.

According to the official WeChat account of China’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, at the request of Iran, China, and Cuba, the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council held an emergency debate on Friday regarding the attack on Minab Primary School. Jia Guide stated China’s position at the meeting.

Jia Guide stated that the attack on Minab Primary School in Iran, which deprived 168 schoolgirls of their lives, broke through the moral bottom line of humanity, represented the gravest violation of human rights, and was an outright contempt for international humanitarian law. China is deeply shocked and strongly condemns this act and deeply shares the grief of the victims’ families.

He pointed out that the United States and Israel’s reckless attack on Iran without authorization from the UN Security Council is the root cause of this tragedy. The US and Israel not only killed Iranian leaders and seriously violated the human rights of the Iranian people, but also triggered escalation of conflicts in the Middle East, forcing regional countries to become involved.

Jia continued that all countries’ sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity should be fully respected. China strongly condemns all acts that violate international law, as well as indiscriminate attacks on civilians and non-military targets.
He emphasized that all hotspot issues should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation, not through the use of force. All parties should seize every opportunity and window for peace, launch negotiation processes with sincerity, take concrete actions to protect the basic human rights of people in the region, and safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East region.
