A bizarre incident occurred on Terminal North Road at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport’s Terminal 2! A Hong Kong woman was seen running among the busy stream of traffic, startling passing drivers and causing many to swerve to avoid her.

Police officers first used a loudspeaker from their vehicle to broadcast, “Miss, keep to the left!” in an attempt to guide her out of the center of the roadway. Seeing no sign that the woman would stop, the officers sounded their siren again as a warning. Ultimately, they decided to get out and give chase, catching up with and stopping her after about 20 meters.

Upon speaking with her, police discovered she became frantic and began running after having mixed up the terminals. The officers immediately guided her to the side of the road to ensure her safety, then personally accompanied her on the free shuttle train from Terminal 2 to the airline counter at Terminal 1 to complete her check-in procedure.

According to the Aviation Police Bureau’s investigation, at around 11:10 a.m. on the 6th, members of the Security Detachment were on patrol duty when they found a 48-year-old Hong Kong woman running along Terminal North Road at Terminal 2. Upon inquiry, she said she was unfamiliar with the terminal’s layout and the surrounding traffic routes, which led her to become lost and run along the road trying to find her way. Officers then provided assistance and guided the Hong Kong woman to the airline counter at Terminal 1 for check-in.

Currently, Taoyuan International Airport operates two terminals: Terminal 1 is mainly used for short-haul, budget airlines, and some foreign airlines. Terminal 2 is primarily used by major traditional airlines such as EVA Air and China Airlines, and is currently the airport’s main traffic hub.

There is a free train shuttle connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
