Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Exchange: Three-Nation Calligraphy Competition Successfully Concludes

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) Yang Zhensheng, president of the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Association, expressed his honor at serving as the host and Brunei's overall compiling unit for the on-site calligraphy competition jointly organized by Tenom, Limbang, and Brunei.
Yang Zhensheng made this statement today at the Three-Nation On-site Calligraphy Competition Award Ceremony held this afternoon at Brunei’s Guan Nian Group Zhi Lian Gallery.
He said that through our joint efforts and consensus, the event has finally concluded successfully today. He thanked the Tenom organizing committee for their hard work and for making the trip to Brunei this morning to witness this award ceremony together.
He mentioned that, as the main sponsor of this event, seeing our nation’s excellent achievements made him happier than anyone. He looks forward to gathering with students soon to share this joy!
At the same time, the Three-Nation Calligraphy Competition will continue to be held in Brunei in June next year, aiming for greater popularization. He hopes that next year’s grassroots efforts will allow all of Borneo to promote calligraphy, making the culture of studying calligraphy more robust.
‘Learning calligraphy and diligently practicing calligraphy are two different realms: the former is full of reverence, and the latter is slowly learning to communicate with oneself—to restrain one's temper in moments of impatience and not to indulge one’s own capriciousness!’
We often overlook many things about ourselves that we shouldn’t, and this can affect a lot of things unnecessarily!
He said that after more calligraphy practice, we will forgo unreliable hearsay and witness the truth with our own eyes. By copying masterpieces more, we come to realize that there is always someone better, higher mountains beyond mountains. Guarding one's true self is the highest form of gentleness. Only with kind-heartedness can one produce true writing!
‘Only when a person is genuine do they learn to keep silent, no longer complain about unrecognized talent. People need to be more grateful to understand humility, and only then can their calligraphy reach greater heights!’
He said, we are all cultured people, there is no need for excessive internal competition; just doing our part is enough.
He concluded by encouraging everyone to learn calligraphy. The association’s Siyuan Hall offers calligraphy classes free of charge, welcoming students to attend. Parents are also welcome to register. Contact number: 8718703 (Cheng Xiaoling).
