(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) and the Weights and Measures Unit have discovered a violation of the Price Control Act in a joint operation.
Recently, JPES, through the Consumer Affairs Division, jointly with the Weights and Measures Unit under the Department of Industry and Business Ecosystem, Ministry of Finance and Economy, conducted a joint operation.
During the operation, a business in Kampung Penanjong, Tutong District, was found to have violated the Price Control Act (Chapter 142).
Following this monthly joint operation, JPES issued a warning notice to the business for selling edible oil at prices exceeding the prescribed maximum limit.
At the same time, authorities verified that five electronic weighing scales, one liquid measuring instrument, and two line measuring instruments were all confirmed to be accurate and had been registered in accordance with the requirements of the Weights and Measures Act 1983 (Chapter 151) and the Weights and Measures (Verification) Regulations 1994, Chapter 3, Clauses (1) and (2).
Through this monthly joint operation, the relevant authorities are committed to ensuring businesses comply with the Price Control Act (Chapter 142) and the Weights and Measures Act (Chapter 151), in order to uphold business ethics and protect consumer rights.
