Police at Indonesia's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, in cooperation with Customs, have raided an underground factory illegally producing etomidate (Etomidate) vape cartridges in North Jakarta, arresting a 34-year-old Singaporean man.
Airport police chief Wisnu stated that the arrested suspect is a 34-year-old Singaporean man, LHM. During the operation, law enforcement officers seized thousands of etomidate vape cartridges ready for market distribution, as well as miniature laboratory equipment used in drug production.
He said the operation stemmed from a police investigation into a drug smuggling case. Previously, airport customs intercepted two bottles containing a total of 2,200 grams of etomidate raw materials smuggled in from Malaysia, estimated to be enough to produce about 2,000 vape cartridges.
Police subsequently worked with customs to conduct a joint investigation, eventually targeting a residence in the upscale Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) district of North Jakarta, where they discovered the premises had been converted into an underground drug factory.
Investigations show that the factory had only started producing vape cartridges the day before the police raid. Police are currently further investigating the actual number of cartridges produced, the operation duration, and the drug trafficking network behind the scenes.
At present, the suspect and all evidence have been handed over to the airport police for further investigation, and the residence involved has been sealed.
