SEMATAN: Teachers play a vital role as agents of change for rural communities, particularly in shaping the younger generation.
Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said teachers are instrumental in shaping education in rural areas.
“With more than 12,000 young teachers in Sarawak under the age of 40, they have the potential to drive positive change.
“Younger teachers are well-positioned to embrace creative approaches in digital education, such as using interactive textbooks in the form of applications or games to capture the interest of today’s learners,” he said during the Talang-Talang Zone leg of the Dual Language Programme (DLP) Roadshow and the Sarawak Dual Language Programme Assessment Excellence Talk (UP-DLP) held recently.
Touching on the UP-DLP, which will take place on Oct 15 and 16, he said the assessment is not intended to compare grades from A to F, but rather to measure the overall proficiency of students and evaluate school performance to identify institutions that need more support.
Meanwhile, Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said the UP-DLP excellence programme serves as an important platform to strengthen students’ achievement in Science, Mathematics and English.
He stressed that mastering English as a language of knowledge is crucial for students to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), while also enhancing their self-confidence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
