(Miri, 12th) The health talk originally scheduled for Sunday, October 12 from 12pm to 4pm, at the Wu Qing Long Master Grand Hall of Hailong Temple, has been canceled due to a power supply interruption. The new date will be announced later.
This talk was organized by the Douwu Palace, Nine Emperor Gods, and Three Dragon Princess of Hailong Temple, Miri Province, with the original theme "Protecting Breathing Starts from Understanding; Regaining Health Starts from the Cell", and had invited three doctors—Dr. Walter Tie Jing Hua, Dr. Chua Meng Hua, and Dr. Jack Wong—as guest speakers. The organizers conveyed that to ensure a smooth event and public safety, they have decided to postpone the talk. Once power is restored and a new date is confirmed, another public announcement will be made.
For any queries, the public may contact Wen Jiaxian (016-9681428) or Wen Qiaoyuan (011-65766788).
On another note, the Douwu Palace, Nine Emperor Gods, and Luohan, Three Dragon King of Hailong Temple, Miri Province, will host the "11th Large-Scale Charity Rice Distribution for the Poor" at the Hailong Temple Hall, Lot 9, Jalan Tuba on the lunar August 28 of the year 2025 Yisi (October 19, Sunday) at 8:30am. The event’s theme is "Uniting All Races, Combating Poverty Together, Mutual Care, Spreading Love," targeting to break through a record of ten thousand bags of rice, in continuation of the Nine Emperor Gods’ spirit of universal love.
This year’s event is jointly organized by Hailong Temple with three Ministers and Members of Parliament from Miri, and leaders of various communities will be invited to witness the event. Hailong Temple abbot, Master Qing Long, stated that preparations are well underway and calls on all devotees and businesspeople from all walks of life to actively participate in good deeds; donations of rice or funds are welcome.
Master Qing Long pointed out that this rice distribution event aims to "help the poor, provide relief to the needy, serve as a role model, and spread love," hoping the response from society will enable more impoverished families to have enough food. This year marks the 11th occurrence of this activity, making it one of the largest and most meaningful charity rice distribution events in the region.
He said Hailong Temple hopes to break the goal of 10,000 bags of rice this year and sincerely invites the public to contribute via rice donations. Charity is a way to cultivate blessings; whether through material offerings, teachings, or protection from fear, all can accumulate merit. As the Buddhist scriptures say, "To be truly wealthy and have endless resources comes from giving." Hailong Temple encourages the public to donate as they are able, to sow the seeds of blessings and accumulate merit together.
Hailong Temple Chairman, Wu Foshen, added that the event is open to all regardless of religion or ethnicity. As long as the family is underprivileged, they may queue up in front of Hailong Temple before 8am that day to receive a 10kg bag of rice. The distribution ceremony officially begins at 8:30am, on a first-come, first-served basis, with no documentation required.
He indicated that those wishing to donate can pre-deliver rice or funds directly to Hailong Temple. Each 10kg bag of rice is priced at RM26.
