(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI) and Polygel Organometallic Sdn Bhd recently signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement, officially establishing a partnership for the supply of anhydrous ammonia, marking another solid step for Brunei in expanding its downstream petrochemical industry.
The signing and exchange ceremony was held at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, witnessed by Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, as well as BFI Chairman, Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah. BFI CEO Haji Iskandar and Polygel CEO Luv Shah signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.
After the signing, the first batch of high-purity anhydrous ammonia was successfully delivered to Polygel on the 4th of this month, to be used as a key raw material in its organometallic manufacturing process, strengthening its product stability and supply chain resilience. This cooperation also assists Polygel in gradually achieving local sourcing of raw materials, reducing reliance on imports.
According to BFI, apart from anhydrous ammonia, the company now offers a range of diversified products, including urea, coated urea, and coating services. This collaboration represents a further expansion and deepening of its business scope.
This partnership not only connects industrial levels, but also aligns closely with the country's economic diversification goals, especially resonating with Brunei's "Vision 2025" and its long-term strategy to promote the development of non-oil and gas industries.
Both parties stated that the agreement not only enhances the synergy of the production chain but also takes into account environmental and operational sustainability. BFI consistently implements strict safety and environmental standards, while Polygel continues to optimize production efficiency, improve energy usage efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions. Both parties will share best practice experiences to enhance chemical handling and logistics operations.
This collaboration is also regarded as an important demonstration of strengthening the competitiveness of Brunei's manufacturing industry and promoting technological innovation. By advancing in-depth connections between local industries, Brunei is steadily moving towards a more resilient and sustainable new industrial era.
