Forty years ago, Tom Cruise starred in 'Top Gun', which became the top-grossing film in the U.S. that year, propelling him from a popular teen idol to a Hollywood A-list star, captivating global audiences ever since. The sequel, 'Top Gun: Maverick', released 36 years after the original, went on to earn more than four times the box office of its predecessor, becoming the highest-grossing film of Tom Cruise's career. It is reported that he earned $100 million just from this movie. Although the third film has yet to be released and its box office appeal is still uncertain, based on Hollywood's contract negotiations, Tom Cruise's salary is only expected to increase. Western media predicts it may reach as much as $135 million, placing him ahead of Marvel's top earner, Robert Downey Jr.
