KUCHING, May 26: Eleven students from the Tasik Biru constituency pursuing tertiary education have received a total of RM3,900 in educational incentives to support and encourage them as they begin their academic journey.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak and Tasik Biru assemblyman, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, said the ‘one-off’ incentive is pocket money for students pursuing their studies at institutions of higher education in various fields.
“This incentive is hoped to help students reduce the initial burden when starting their studies and be a catalyst for continued success,” he said when met by the media during the donation handover programme.
Meanwhile, he also urged those celebrating Gawai Dayak to remain vigilant—particularly when using water transport—by wearing life jackets and avoiding overloading boats or barges beyond their capacity.
He also reminded users of the Pan Borneo Highway to be careful, especially when approaching the P-turn area, as there are vehicles that often move slowly on the right lane.
Earlier, he also attended the Rahmah Madani Mobile Sales Programme, where he handed over food baskets to 120 recipients from 15 villages around the Singai area.
