(Fujian, 20th) As this year's 6th typhoon, "Wipha," approaches, the degree of wind and rain impact along China's Fujian coast continues to intensify.
According to reports from China News Service, the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration announced that as of 12 pm on Saturday (July 19), a total of 56 passenger ferry routes and 156 passenger ferry vessels along the Fujian coast have suspended operation, and 58 water construction projects have halted work.
That evening at 5 pm, the center of Typhoon "Wipha" was located approximately 700 kilometers east of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, with maximum winds near the center reaching Force 11 (30 meters/second, strong tropical storm level).
Meteorological experts stated that on the day, the Taiwan Shoal fishing grounds experienced maximum winds of Force 9 to 11, with gusts up to Force 11 to 13; fishing grounds in central and southern Fujian, and maritime areas off the central and southern Fujian coast, had maximum winds of Force 8 to 9, with gusts of Force 10 to 11. Some parts of Fujian’s coastal regions, as well as some inland counties and cities, experienced gusts of Force 8 to 10; heavy to torrential rain hit some areas along the Fujian coast, with local downpours in certain regions.
Due to the typhoon's impact, tourist sites such as the Xianren Valley scenic spot, Longwangtou Ocean Park, and Tannan Bay scenic area in Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone have temporarily closed.
At present, all areas in Fujian are making every effort to defend against the typhoon. The Fujian Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters is maintaining a Level IV emergency response for typhoon prevention. The Fujian Maritime Safety Administration has dynamically deployed maritime emergency forces: 49 patrol vessels, 110 harbor tugboats, two large professional rescue ships, and four rescue helicopters are on emergency standby to ensure a timely, rapid, and effective response to maritime emergencies.
