Former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir stated that people are now afraid to speak out for fear of being dealt with by the authorities!

He posted on social media on Wednesday saying: 'Many people express feeling afraid, and I ask what they are afraid of, because for a slight mistake they might be questioned by the police, not only worried about being questioned, but they can even be detained.'

He said that detention is actually no different from imprisonment.

He mentioned that now they cannot raise the 3R issues of religion, race, and rulers, but it is these issues that cause problems.

'They are Malays, yet they cannot discuss Malay issues; they are Muslims, yet cannot talk about Islamic issues; they want to reflect issues to the Malay rulers, yet are not allowed to discuss the royalty.'

'They cannot talk about (royal) pardons or expose issues, otherwise they will be investigated.'

He stated that reporting will also be investigated, being told not to politicize.

'Politicians also cannot speak in parliament, otherwise they will be banned.'

He quipped that the notion of 'reformasi' is actually 're-4-ma-si Liau-Liau.'
