Benny Chan Challenges Japan, Claims 'Chinese Missiles Could Flatten Japan'

Published at Nov 26, 2025 01:53 pm
74-year-old “Brother Lek” Benny Chan, after announcing his retirement from the screen in 2022, has turned to social media to interact with fans. Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks about “an incident in Taiwan is an incident for Japan as well” stirred discontent in China. Regarding whether a conflict between China and Japan could break out, Brother Lek expressed his opinion in a recent social media video, once again sparking discussion.

In the video, Brother Lek was asked whether China and Japan would go to war. He replied that China and Japan “will not go to war,” stating that the two are “not in the same league,” and bluntly said that if Beijing were to launch an attack, Japan would have no means to resist. He pointed out that in recent years the United States has tried to rope in Japan to confront China, but after Chinese military exercises, Japan has withdrawn its related deployments. He even said: “Whenever China mentions the independence of the Ryukyu Islands, Japan immediately goes weak.”

Brother Lek further stated that Japan lags behind China in terms of the supply chain, weaponry, and national strength, and claimed, “As long as China’s missiles are launched, the whole of Japan could be flattened.” Additionally, he criticized Sanae Takaichi’s recent remarks about the situation in the Taiwan Strait, stating bluntly: “Taiwan will definitely be unified—what does that have to do with Japan?” and considered this a “petty provocation.”
