(Kuala Lumpur, 22nd) Unscrupulous individuals are believed to have used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to release a fake video involving the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, purportedly announcing a financial aid scheme. The public is urged not to believe the content of this video, and police have already launched an investigation.
The Director of the National Police Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Datuk Rusdi, issued a statement saying that this 32-second video, previously uploaded on the TikTok account @DATUKZULKARNAIN77, shows His Majesty seemingly making a speech announcing financial assistance for the people, and calling on those facing financial hardship to contact a person calling himself Datuk Zulkarnain.
He emphasized that the content of the video is fabricated, and police believe that someone used artificial intelligence technology to produce this fake video.
He stated that the police are currently investigating the case under Section 419 of the Penal Code (Impersonation and Fraud), as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Improper Use of Network Facilities or Network Services).
The public is urged not to believe in the content of the video and to refrain from contacting the relevant individual.
