Jacky Cheung Singapore Concert: Police Urge Public to Stay Vigilant Against Scams

The Singapore police urge the public to beware of concert ticket scams and ensure that tickets are purchased through official channels.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Hong Kong music superstar Jacky Cheung will once again hold three consecutive "60+ Tour" concerts in Singapore from November 21 to 23 this year, and on July 4 it was reported that all tickets were sold out.

The Singapore Police Force issued a statement on the 10th, stating that during Jacky Cheung’s 2023 concert in Singapore, the police received at least 45 reports related to ticket scams, with total losses exceeding $42,000. Most of the victims were female office workers aged between 20 and 49.

The statement pointed out that most victims saw ticket resale information on platforms such as Carousell, Xiaohongshu (RED), Facebook, WhatsApp, and on websites like Viagogo.com. Some scammers would post fake ticket advertisements and attach forged ticket screenshots or payment receipts to gain trust.

Some would also create a sense of urgency by claiming "limited time, limited quantity" to pressure for payment, promising to deliver the tickets later. In certain cases, after victims made payment but did not receive the tickets, the scammers falsely claimed that funds had not been received and took the opportunity to ask for money again.

Many victims only realized they had been scammed after losing contact with the other party or ultimately failing to receive the tickets.
