(Laos, 28th) Out of 7 treasure seekers trapped in a cave in Laos for about a week, 5 have been found by a Thai rescue team.
The Thai rescue team said on the 27th: "We have found 5 of the trapped people. We will continue searching for the other 2."
A Thai volunteer rescuer, Chakrakrit, posted a video on social media in which he and the five trapped individuals are celebrating joyfully.
The video shows the trapped people in good spirits, raising their arms and smiling.
The rescue team stated that getting the trapped people out from the chamber at the end of the cave will be the next challenge.
According to local volunteer organizations and Lao official media "Laos News," seven Laotian citizens entered a cave in Xaysomboun Province on May 20th to search for gold, but heavy rains and landslides blocked the cave's entrance.
A team of Thai volunteers joined the rescue operation last weekend. Among the team is a diver who participated in the 2018 operation that rescued 12 boys and a football coach from a flood-trapped cave in northern Thailand, which drew global attention.
