Kuching Anti-Drug Operation Arrests 59 People and Seizes Drugs Worth Over RM2,600

(Kuching, 16th) Police arrested a total of 59 drug-related suspects, dismantled several drug-related activities, and seized drugs worth over RM2,600 during a nine-day citywide anti-drug operation.
This operation, codenamed "Special Narcotics Task Force Operation (Ops Tapis Khas Narkotik)", was carried out by the district police headquarters from December 6th to 14th, aiming to curb drug distribution and abuse in the area.

During the operation, police seized various types of drugs, including 23.84 grams of methamphetamine (Ice) and 0.90 grams of Erimin 5 pills, with a total value of about RM2,682.40.
Kuching Police Chief Alexson stated that among those arrested, 11 were detained for drug possession—two under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and nine under Section 12(2) of the same Act.
The remaining 48 suspects were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug consumption.
He added that the success of this operation was attributed to continuous intelligence gathering and the proactive cooperation of the public.

"Police will not compromise with any behavior involving drug activities, as the possession, trafficking, or sheltering of such activities are all serious crimes under the law."
