(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) – Sinaran Pelangi School’s (Sinaran Pelangi School) Special Education Head Teacher, Loo Noy Ingz, was recently selected to participate in the “Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program” (YSEALI PFP), organized by the U.S. Department of State. She will attend a one-month “Student Transition Education Program” at the Boise School District in Idaho, USA.
This opportunity was granted by the U.S. Embassy through a rigorous selection process. All expenses, including airfare and accommodation, are fully sponsored by the U.S. Embassy.
The school board chairperson, Ms. Lui Shi Yun, treasurer Lui Shi Mei, school affairs director Cheng Shi Juan, and board member Lin Gong Yu personally accompanied her to the airport to see her off, expressing great pride in the teacher’s acceptance and professional achievements. Chairperson Lui Shi Yun stated: “This is not only an honor for our teacher, but also a pride for Sinaran Pelangi School. We believe the knowledge and experience she gains from this U.S. exchange will further enhance the quality of our inclusive education, benefiting both general students and those with special education needs.”
During her stay in the U.S., the teacher will be deeply involved in the Boise District S.T.E.P. program, which focuses on providing transitional support to special needs students aged 18 to 21 who have completed high school and have Individualized Education Programs. The curriculum emphasizes self-advocacy, life skills, community involvement, as well as pre-employment and career development abilities, aiming to cultivate students’ independence, self-confidence, and employability in a safe and respectful environment.
This exchange not only reflects Sinaran Pelangi teachers’ outstanding professional competence but also demonstrates the school’s firm commitment to advancing inclusive education.
