Serian Cracks Down on Online Gambling Activities, Police Arrest One Man

(Serian, 24th) – Police launched an operation on Monday (February 23), arresting a local man suspected of engaging in online gambling activities.
Serian District Police Chief Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian stated that at around 5:30 pm, police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted an inspection at a premises in the area and detained the man.
Preliminary investigations found that the man is suspected of participating in online gambling activities.
He said: "Police have arrested the suspect and seized several items to assist in further investigations."
The case is currently being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which upon conviction, carries a maximum fine of RM100,000 or imprisonment of up to five years.
Freddy also urged the public not to participate in any illegal gambling activities and welcomed the public to provide relevant information to Serian District Police Headquarters or nearby police stations.
