(Kuching, 7th) Continuous heavy rain has caused flash floods in several low-lying areas of Kuching, but the situation is not considered too serious.

It is understood that in some kampungs, rainwater that could not be drained in time from the ditches has seeped onto the roads, and residents are on high alert and have made preparations to respond.

Rainwater in the ditch could not be discharged in time and seeped onto the road.
The affected kampungs or areas include Kampung Gersik, Kampung Tupong, Kampung Rampangi, Samariang Batu, New Samariang Town in the Petra Jaya area, as well as Kampung Ulu Iboi, Kampung Rangawan, and Kampung Terasik in the Sadong Jaya area.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department and other rescue agencies have also arranged for personnel to inspect the affected areas, and will assist with evacuation arrangements at the first sign of need.

The water level in the ditch has risen.
Fortunately, as the heavy rain subsided, water levels in the affected areas gradually receded and did not worsen further, so it was not necessary to set up temporary evacuation centers.
