The Ecuadorian government announced on the 19th that, due to intelligence indicating an assassination attempt on recently re-elected President Noboa, Ecuador has entered the highest alert.

According to AFP, Noboa won the runoff election on April 13, but his main competitor, Gonzalez, accused him of 'outrageous fraud.' Noboa is expected to be inaugurated on May 24.

This week, military intelligence reports leaked on social media indicated that assassins have entered Ecuador from Mexico and other countries intending to carry out a 'terror attack' on Noboa.

The Ecuadorian government stated in a declaration on the morning of the 19th: 'We strongly condemn and will not tolerate any intent against the life of the President of the Republic, national authorities, or public officials.' 'Currently, the state is on the highest alert.'

The government accused 'criminal organizations in collusion with political factions that lost the election' of plotting the conspiracy but did not name specific individuals.

The Ecuadorian Electoral Commission and international observers have denied any election fraud in the runoff, but Mexico and Colombia have not yet officially recognized Noboa's victory.

Following the report's release, the rift between Ecuador and Mexico has widened.

One year ago, Ecuadorian police stormed the Mexican Embassy in the capital, Quito, to arrest former Vice President Glass, who had been seeking political asylum and was wanted by authorities, leading Mexico to angrily break off diplomatic relations with Ecuador.

After the conspiracy report about Noboa was exposed, the Mexican Foreign Ministry issued a statement denying Mexico as the 'source of the alleged criminal activities or internal situation in Ecuador.'
