Wu Fung Holds Concert at Age 94 in Hong Kong Coliseum, Breaks Guinness World Record

Hong Kong entertainment industry’s “evergreen tree”, Wu Fung (Uncle Sau), successfully held the “Sau Gor 95 Supreme Infinite Fung Show Concert” at the Hong Kong Coliseum on the 7th. At 94 years old, he has been officially recognized by Guinness as the oldest Chinese artist to ever hold a concert, setting a new world record.

The lineup of guests for this concert was incredibly strong, with as many as 28 performers, including Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan, Nick Cheung, Miriam Yeung, Karen Mok, “BIG FOUR”, Pakho Chau, “Grasshopper”, Liza Wang, and Nancy Sit, among others. Additionally, Wu Fung’s four great-grandchildren made a special appearance on stage, joining him in a heartwarming duet of “Shi Shang Zhi You (世上只有)”.

During the nearly five-hour-long concert, Wu Fung remained energetic throughout. Although he tripped slightly and almost fell when going up and down the stairs soon after opening, he was unharmed. Felix Wong took special care of Wu Fung both backstage and onstage, thoughtfully bringing him tea and water.

Jacky Cheung and Nick Cheung Joke About Rumors

Wu Fung’s two godsons, Jacky Cheung and Nick Cheung, delivered lots of laughs on stage. While performing “Fen Fen Zhong Xu Yao Ni (分分钟需要你)” with Wu Fung, Nick Cheung teased him about rumored relationships with Helena Law, even joking about supposed photos of the two kissing circulating online. Wu Fung humorously replied, “Now there’s AI technology.” When Jacky Cheung came on stage, he performed “The Ageless Legend (不老的传说)” and joined in on the jokes. He referenced Helena Law’s role as a telephone operator in a classic show, saying that he always jokes about it whenever he calls Wu Fung. The comedic banter between Jacky Cheung and Nick Cheung had the entire audience in stitches. At the end, the three of them sang the classic hit “Hai Shi Jue De Ni Zui Hao (还是觉得你最好)” together, and Jacky Cheung sincerely expressed his admiration and respect for Wu Fung performing at such a high age.

Eason Chan Makes Surprise Appearance

Another highlight of the concert was the surprise appearance by Eason Chan, marking his first time as a guest at Wu Fung’s concert in over 20 years. Eason performed and danced “Old Dreams Like the Wind (旧欢如梦)” together with dancers, followed by “Shall We Talk”. On stage, Eason emotionally recalled how, when he was just starting out, he ran into Wu Fung in the dressing room, and this senior artist surprisingly humbled himself to ask if there were any opportunities to collaborate in the future, offering Eason a chance to perform. Eason said this encounter has stayed with him and greatly touched him, and that he deeply respects Wu Fung’s passion for his work and his support for younger artists.

Karen Mok, who has not appeared in Hong Kong in a while, performed live, and Wu Fung praised her for her superb artistic talents, singing a birthday song for Karen who had just celebrated her birthday. Another diva, Miriam Yeung, made a special appearance despite her busy schedule, recalling how Wu Fung took care of her when they filmed together in the past. Dicky Cheung humorously added that he hopes to invite Wu Fung as a guest when he himself turns 95. As the concert came to an end, Wu Fung appeared once again supported by Jacky Cheung and Nick Cheung, sitting in a chair and joining all the guests to sing “Friends (朋友)”, ending this historic event on a perfect note. #
