Zhang Yuchen Returns to Malaysia with 'Chen Fans' Support, Promises to Write a Song for Sammi Cheng

Malaysian singer Zhang Yuchen’s popularity has soared since joining 'The Voice of the Middle-aged 3,' and after winning the runner-up title, he signed with TVB, officially entering the Hong Kong entertainment industry. On September 5th, he specially returned to Malaysia to attend the launch of the 'Vic Zhang Yuchen Limited Edition Pure Gold Collectible Card,' which attracted 'Chen fans' from all over to show their support. The event was so lively it felt like a fan meet-and-greet.

Zhang Yuchen not only gave the debut performance of his new song 'Is There Anyone to Love,' but also played sweet games with lucky fans, causing the whole audience to scream; fans meticulously prepared gifts and lined up to present them, moving him so much that he was half kneeling at the edge of the stage to receive flowers, his hands full to overflowing.

This was his first fan meeting in Malaysia since winning the award. As soon as he appeared, he excitedly shouted, "Malaysia, I’m finally back!" igniting the atmosphere. Besides Malaysian fans, there were also fans from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Singapore, Canada, and Thailand who specially flew in to support their idol. Even TVB's 'Scoop' team was on site to interview, underscoring the scale of the event.

Zhang Yuchen also performed 'Refuse to Play Anymore' and his first Cantonese song 'Deep Sea', stunning the crowd with his vocals. He revealed he hopes for the opportunity to hold his personal concerts or shows in different places, including Malaysia. On stage
he took the opportunity to encourage everyone to chase their dreams: "I learned a lot in 'The Voice 3,' both in singing and expression, and made many friends. So if you have a dream, go try it—if you miss 'The Voice 4' there’s always 'The Voice 5'!" When fans clamored for him to teach singing, he laughed and asked, "Will you come to class?" which got the whole audience shouting in unison, "We definitely will!"—an enthusiastic scene indeed.

Speaking about his feelings on returning to Malaysia, he admitted that it wasn't the 'glorious return' some made it out to be, but rather like coming home to see old friends: "It feels very warm, very touching. I didn’t think too much about it." With his rising popularity, his workload has obviously increased. When asked if his income had increased accordingly, he laughed and said, "Income is indeed a bit higher, but I also need to prepare more outfits for performances! Life is already more than enough, I’m very content." When fans at the scene heckled him to get married, he responded humorously, "I can’t even support myself yet, how can I support a wife?"

Regarding his developments after signing with TVB, he revealed he is currently focused on musical performances. Although not against acting in dramas, he is even more eager to try film roles: "Best if I play a psychopath or a killer." He also expressed his openness to Malaysian directors reaching out to him.

Zhang Yuchen said emotionally that to stand on stage again as a singer is precious, and for his fans he would not give up easily: "Even if I need a cane, I’ll still be holding concerts at 70!" He also stated he does not plan to participate in singing competitions again, but would like to try variety shows, especially cooking or sports programs. When talking about his wish list for collaborations, he did not hide his admiration for Sammi Cheng: "I really appreciate her as a person, and I hope to get to know her. Even more, I want to write a song for her!"
