51-year-old actress Ng Man Yan (now known as Ng Yan Hei), who was once Miss Hong Kong, was diagnosed with breast cancer, recovered, but suffered a relapse two years ago with metastasis to her lymph nodes. By last March, it had spread to her coccyx and worsened to stage 4. Due to treatment, she lost all her hair and previously held a 'living memorial' to bid farewell to friends and family. Nonetheless, she continued to fight against death with positivity. Recently, she posted three videos in a row, appearing weak and saying she had been hospitalized again last week, that her condition had hit rock bottom, and that doctors told her the cancer had invaded her brain and spread throughout her body. She broke down and cried out, both anxious and scared: 'In the past two or three months, I’ve felt so close to death. Every night when I sleep, I seem to smell the foul odor of a corpse.' Her words evoked much sympathy.
After learning of her breast cancer recurrence, Ng Man Yan continued filming to share her cancer-fighting process with fellow patients and fans. Previously, she had always maintained a positive outlook, but recently, her declining health has made her break down in tears while speaking. She said that in the past two or three months, both her physical and mental state have collapsed. After doctors did an MRI scan, they told her that the cancer had invaded her brain. The tumors were each only 1cm across, but were present on both sides. She wept bitterly upon hearing this, but the doctor comforted her, saying that if the chemotherapy medication works, it might help her battle the cancer throughout her body, including the tumors in her brain.
She lay in her hospital bed, appearing very weak. It turned out that before being hospitalized, she had been running a low fever without realizing it. This past week she received treatment at the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital, and she said she feels like she has only a 'quarter of a life' left. Now getting treatment in Shenzhen costs much less.
