(Bangkok, 19th) — The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) announced on Monday (January 19) the approval of a major investment project led by the joint venture between Taiwan’s Zhen Ding Technology Group and Thailand’s Saha Pathana Inter-Holding Co., totaling 65 billion baht, approximately S$2.67 billion.
Zhen Ding Technology (ZDT) is the world’s largest manufacturer of printed circuit boards (PCBs). Its related products are widely used in consumer electronics, medical equipment, telecommunications, energy infrastructure, and other fields, serving as core components essential to all types of electronic products.
BOI Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi stated that this investment project will significantly strengthen the supply chain capabilities for advanced electronic products in Thailand and help promote the upgrade of the local electronics industry.
He said that the joint venture between Zhen Ding Technology and Saha Pathana is expected to create about 5,600 jobs in Thailand, having a positive impact on the local employment market.
As Southeast Asia’s second largest economy, Thailand is currently actively promoting economic recovery and urgently needs to attract foreign direct investment to stimulate growth. The Bank of Thailand earlier told Reuters that it expects the country to achieve a 2.2% economic growth target in 2025.
The BOI pointed out that Zhen Ding Technology currently has production bases in both Taiwan and Mainland China. Its first investment project in Thailand was approved three years ago and officially commenced operations in September last year, demonstrating the group’s continued confidence in Thailand’s potential as a regional manufacturing hub.
