The male suspect, accused of killing his wife and leaving her body in their residence for four days, has been remanded for 7 more days to assist in the investigation.
According to MalaysiaGazette, initial urine tests for drugs on the 28-year-old male suspect came back negative, and "jealousy" is believed to be the motive for the case.
However, the report also emphasized that police are still investigating the actual motive behind the suspect's actions.
The 28-year-old suspect was brought to the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court on Friday (December 12) for the remand application. Magistrate J. Shavidthsingh approved the police request to detain the suspect for 7 more days until the 18th of this month to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code (Murder).
The report stated that the suspect, dressed in a detention outfit, was escorted by police to the Bukit Mertajam court at around 8:45 am today.
According to earlier reports, in the case of the suspected murder of a 44-year-old woman by her second husband by throat-slitting, police found a sharp knife at the crime scene, believed to be the weapon used.
The incident took place at an apartment on Jalan Tuna in Seberang Jaya.
Central Seberang Perai District Police Chief Hilmi earlier stated that the police received a confession from a Malay man at 11:30 am on the 11th of this month, claiming he had killed his wife, which led to the uncovering of this case.
