The temperature in China’s capital Beijing reached 38.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, setting a new high for the year.
According to the People's Daily app, as of 3:40 p.m. on Sunday (June 22), Beijing’s highest temperature reached 38.1 degrees Celsius—a new high for the year so far. It is expected that from Monday to Wednesday (June 23 to 25), Beijing will continue to experience heatwave weather with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius.
Xinhua News Agency reported that meteorological departments said Beijing entered consecutive hot days starting from Saturday (June 21).
In response to this round of high temperatures, the Beijing Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow high temperature alert on Friday afternoon (June 20).
According to China's meteorological industry standards, a day when the maximum temperature reaches or exceeds 35 degrees Celsius is considered a high temperature day.
