After Israel launched a deadly airstrike on the outskirts of Beirut, Lebanon on the 7th, Iran fired at least four waves of missiles at Israel.
On the 7th, Israel bombed a Hezbollah stronghold, an Iranian proxy, located in the southern suburbs of Beirut, causing at least 2 deaths and 20 injuries. The Iranian military immediately launched multiple waves of missile attacks in retaliation. This is the first time Tehran has targeted Jerusalem since the US-Iran ceasefire in April, marking the most serious escalation in this Middle East war.

The Israeli military warned on the 7th that Iran had committed a “serious mistake.” Afterwards, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed via social media that, early on the 8th, they struck targets in western and central Iran.
Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported on the 8th that several explosions were heard in the early morning in Tehran, the Iranian capital.
