Now, a Hong Kong male celebrity has indeed traveled to Shenzhen specifically to see a dentist. TVB actor Lin Zhengfeng, who appeared in “News Queen”, shared his experience of getting a tooth extraction. After work, he rushed to Shenzhen for dental care because getting a tooth extracted in Hong Kong was too expensive. “Last time, I had 2 teeth extracted in Shenzhen for a total of 630 RMB (about 379 MYR), whereas in Hong Kong, it would cost 700 to 2500 HKD (about 398 to 1423 MYR) just for one.”
Lin Zhengfeng revealed the high dental costs in Hong Kong and mentioned his luck in not needing to extract wisdom teeth, which are charged separately. He asked his dentist friend, and the cost of extracting one wisdom tooth is 5,000 HKD (about 2845 MYR). If surgery is required, which is riskier, the fee can reach 8,000 HKD (about 4553 MYR). However, in Shenzhen, the cost is only 700 RMB (about 421 MYR). He said with a bitter smile, “The difference is really too big, dozens of times, so exaggerated. That's why I decided to come here, because I'm poor.” He highlighted the ease of traveling from Hong Kong via subway to Shenzhen for a tooth extraction, embodying the Greater Bay Area's convenient lifestyle.
