(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) The 2025 Brunei-Danan Limbang Calligraphy Competition Open Category was held at the Concepts Computer Smart Hall in Brunei.

This is also the first time that Vice President Bao Pingsheng of the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association held it in the smart hall of his company, with a total of 24 calligraphy enthusiasts participating.

In his pre-competition speech, Yang Zhensheng, the president of the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association, said that this is the first time Brunei's calligraphy community is collaborating with the Sabah/Danan Calligraphy Association and the Sarawak/Limbang Calligraphy Association to host a three-state calligraphy competition.

He said that we all have a common philosophy, aiming to popularize calligraphy, just like the nationwide spring festival couplet competition held every year, subtly instilling the excellent traditional Chinese culture into life, while not forgetting the original intention of learning calligraphy, which is to experience a better life.

He mentioned that human nature is kind, and writing calligraphy starts with respecting teachers and valuing the Way, beginning with filial piety towards parents. Both lead us to pursue self-cultivation in the context of Chinese cultural philosophy!

As Brunei's overall coordinating unit, we deeply understand the challenges beyond our capabilities. Therefore, we have arranged a "Double Championship" system domestically to encourage the efforts of participating children, ensuring they are not disheartened by the three-state competition and that their efforts are acknowledged! Today, we are honored to contribute to the calligraphy community with everyone, and we hope everyone writes with dedication in this competition!

This calligraphy competition features two categories, the student category and the open category, attracting calligraphy enthusiasts of all ages to participate actively. Among them, 14 students participated in the student category, showcasing the younger generation's love for traditional calligraphy, while the open category saw 24 participants, creating a lively atmosphere.

The competition schedule includes the student category from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, and the open category from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, ensuring participants in both categories have ample time to showcase their skills.

The purpose of the competition is to provide a new platform for calligraphy enthusiasts in Brunei, Danan, and Limbang to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and promote friendship, thereby promoting Chinese culture and Confucianism, enhancing the art of Chinese character calligraphy, and discovering talented calligraphy artists and enthusiasts with potential.

The calligraphy competition in Brunei is organized by the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Association, and all competition works will be sent to Lawas for evaluation.
