The Grammy Awards official website recently published an article titled "12 Artists Helping Mandopop Become the Next Global Genre." The article prominently features Jay Chou, G.E.M., and Xiao Zhan, among others, and acknowledges that G.E.M.’s world tour has amassed cumulative box office earnings ranking her as the 4th highest-grossing female singer of all time, surpassing artists like BLACKPINK and Madonna. She is also the only Asian female singer in the top five.
After G.E.M. gained massive popularity from participating in the reality show "I Am a Singer," she has started her latest “I AM GLORIA World Tour” in December 2023. The tour includes performances in Greater China, as well as cities like Paris, London, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, the U.S., and Canada, with over 130 shows planned in total.
The Grammy Awards website states that this tour achieved box office earnings of $424 million (approximately RM1.796 billion), surpassing Madonna’s "Sticky & Sweet Tour" and BLACKPINK's "Born Pink Tour," placing her in 4th place worldwide. The top three are Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour," Pink's "Summer Carnival Tour," and Beyoncé's "Renaissance World Tour."
Beyond concert box office success, G.E.M.’s song "Light Years Away" is the most-viewed Chinese music video on YouTube, with a total of 290 million views to date.
