(Kuching, 7th Dec) The two 5-year-old girls who went missing yesterday (December 6) in Kampung Pasir Pandak have been found safe and sound this morning.
According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department, villagers discovered the two girls at around 9am this morning near Batu Gelingan, about 1 kilometer from the initial search and rescue command center, close to the beach area.
The report stated: “The two girls were then sent to Sarawak General Hospital for further examination and medical observation.”
The two girls were last seen at around 9am yesterday morning when they went to their grandmother’s house about 50 meters from home to play with their cousins.
By 11am, the father of one of the girls realized the child was not at the play location. Family members and villagers immediately launched a preliminary search but to no avail.
The authorities received an official report at 6pm and immediately launched a joint search and rescue operation involving the Fire and Rescue Department, police, local residents, and other relevant agencies.
The search and rescue efforts mainly focused on the girls’ residential area and the nearby riverbank. The operation was temporarily halted at 11:40pm on December 6th, and resumed this morning, culminating in the successful and safe rescue of the two girls.
