To allow the new operator to conduct maintenance and upgrade works, the Kuala Lumpur Tower will be temporarily closed starting today until further notice.
The Ministry of Communications issued a statement on Wednesday (16th) evening, stating that to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience at the Kuala Lumpur Tower, it will be temporarily closed for maintenance and upgrades by the new operator.
They also emphasized that the Kuala Lumpur Tower is a government asset, and as of April 1st, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM), held by Lim Sang Hai Capital (LSH), has been appointed as the new operator.
In light of this, the previous operator, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB), occupying the Kuala Lumpur Tower after March 31st this year is deemed illegal.
The Ministry of Communications noted that the Federal Territory Land Commissioner had notified MKLSB to vacate the premises via letters dated April 3, 2025, and April 9, 2025. Therefore, their ongoing business operations at the Kuala Lumpur Tower have not been authorized by the government.
According to reports, LSHSM, which was awarded a 20-year operating license for the Kuala Lumpur Tower, was originally scheduled to take over operations on April 1st. However, the previous operator, Hydroshoppe company and its subsidiary MKLSB, have filed legal action in protest and have delayed vacating the Kuala Lumpur Tower.
