This year, China's film market has rebounded, with the total annual box office revenue exceeding 50 billion yuan.

According to comprehensive reports from China News Service and Securities Times, data from the box office tracking platform Lighthouse Pro shows that as of Saturday (December 13), China's 2025 total annual box office has surpassed 50 billion yuan. After a relative decline in the market in 2024, the total box office has once again risen above 50 billion yuan, marking the fifth time China's annual box office has exceeded the 50 billion yuan mark, following 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023.

Data indicates that the total annual number of moviegoers is close to 1.2 billion, with 137 million screenings held, and the average ticket price has declined compared to last year, standing at 41.9 yuan.

Among the top ten box office films, four were released during the Spring Festival period, four during the summer holidays, and the remaining two in September and November, respectively. Among them, Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child topped the chart with 15.446 billion yuan, Detective Tang 1900 and Zootopia 2 ranked second and third, respectively.

Lighthouse Pro data analyst Chen Jin said that with more than ten days left in the release calendar, the box office for the 2025 Chinese New Year film season has already exceeded 3.7 billion yuan, significantly surpassing last year's final result of 3.05 billion yuan.

Chen Jin believes that with the release of Avatar 3 next week, this year's New Year season may challenge the record for the highest box office for this period in Chinese film history.
