A Russian man returned home after working away for three years, only to discover that his apartment had been completely taken over by pigeons. Before leaving, he had forgotten to close a window, and this seemingly minor oversight became the gateway for a massive pigeon invasion. Not only were his furniture covered with pigeons, but the floor was also covered in feathers and bird droppings. The shocking scene was revealed online and quickly went viral on social media.

According to the Russian media 'Komsomolskaya Pravda', the middle-aged man left the northern mining city of Vorkuta for work in Siberia three years ago. At the time of his departure, he forgot to close one of the windows, which became the entry point for the pigeons' takeover.

Upon returning to his apartment, he was stunned by what he saw. In the video, dozens of pigeons can be seen leisurely perched on the sofa, table, and cabinets, as if the place belonged to them. The original look of the floor was nowhere to be seen, completely buried under thick layers of bird droppings, feathers, and nesting materials.

The man said helplessly that he never expected his home to end up like this when he left, and now the place is filled everywhere with nesting material, feathers, and droppings—so much so that it's like having a 'second floor.' Jokingly, he said the pigeons looked at him like landlords eyeing a tenant behind on rent, saying, "Not only am I not the landlord, but I feel like an intruder in the pigeons' kingdom."

This absurd and terrifying scene quickly went viral on Russian social media, attracting all sorts of tongue-in-cheek comments. Some joked, "At least they left you eggs for breakfast," while others suggested he should just give up on the apartment, "buying a new one might be cheaper than cleaning it up."

Experts estimate that to completely clean and renovate the place, including replacing the furniture and reflooring, it would cost about 1.5 to 2 million rubles (approximately RM 74,700 to RM 99,600), nearly as much as the current market value of the apartment itself. What's worse is that pigeons may carry various diseases; if the man wants to move back in after cleaning, the entire home needs to be especially disinfected to avoid the risk of infection.
