(City, 13th) St. George's School held an orientation session for new students' parents on the 10th of this month at the Diocesan Hall, providing a detailed introduction to important information regarding new student enrollment.
The session was jointly hosted by Principal Kennedy, Vice Principal Lusiman, and Primary Department Head Ms. Chan Yuce. The orientation was conducted in two sessions: the first was for all new students' parents, and the second was specifically for first-grade parents.
Ms. Chan Yuce, Primary Department Head, began with a welcome address, followed by a speech from Principal Kennedy. He emphasized the school's commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment, highlighted the importance of a strong home-school partnership, and explained the school's financial responsibilities, leave policies, safety measures, and anti-bullying awareness. A Q&A segment was also included, and the new Vice Principal Lusiman was introduced to parents.
The Vice Principal then shared insights on changes in learning approaches, the use of electronic devices, and building healthy parent-child relationships. Ms. Chan Yuce, Primary Department Head, outlined the school's vision and mission, curriculum structure, and integrated teaching programs such as Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar. She also introduced the school’s annual activities, including storytelling sessions, writing workshops, parent language workshops, Language Week, off-campus study trips, and initiatives to promote home-school interaction through WhatsApp groups, parent-teacher conferences, and transparent communication.
Afterwards, a dedicated session was held for first-grade students’ parents, focusing on how the Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar programs support the early development of students’ literacy skills. Parents were also introduced to the "Family E-reading Program" and received reading material packs to help their children start reading at the beginning of the new school year.
Overall, this session strengthened the partnership between the school and parents, ensuring that both sides can work together to support students’ learning, growth, and success throughout the academic year.
