Sun De'an Leads Delegation to Visit Bruneian Poet

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) Led by President Sun De'an of the Chinese Literary and Arts Federation, a group of five—Zhu Yunli, Lin Meiyu, Xing Xiuzhu, and Lin Yuantai—recently visited Bruneian poet and teacher Liang Youqing to engage in a warm exchange on poetry creation and the literary life.
Since retiring from his teaching position at Chung Hwa School in Brunei, Teacher Liang Youqing has not let the years slip by idly. On the contrary, he remains devoted to the written word, immersed in poetry, and continues to write diligently. For one to stay true to their passion after leaving the workforce is a rare form of spiritual self-discipline. For him, poetry is not a mere ornament to life, but an existence intertwined with daily breath.
Living in Brunei, known as the “Land of Peace,” Teacher Liang has always maintained a healthy and enduring lifestyle—reading, writing poems, and quietly listening to the changing of the seasons. This seemingly simple yet exceptionally steady daily rhythm allows him to walk alongside poetry in tranquility and to find peace with the passage of time.
During the exchange, President Sun De'an spoke highly of Teacher Liang Youqing’s dedication to poetry over the years, believing that a poet need not be distant from people, but must be close to the inner self; poetry is not a profession, but a state of being. When writing is no longer a task but becomes existence itself, poetic grace will quietly take root in everyday life.
After the visit, the group continued their poetry discussion over a lunchtime meal, sharing laughter and friendship, as the warmth of literature flowed naturally through the simple lunch hours.
