Kuching Launches Luxury Cars and Motorcycles Operation, 18 Vehicles Seized

(Kuching, 23rd) The Sarawak Road Transport Department conducted the "Luxury Vehicle Operation" (Ops Kenderaan Mewah) and "Motorcycle Operation" (Ops Motosikal) last night on Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yaakub Road, Kuching, seizing a total of 18 vehicles, including 4 luxury cars.
The Sarawak Road Transport Department stated in a Facebook post today that the operation aimed to enhance road users’ compliance with traffic regulations and consistently ensure road safety.
"The vehicles seized include a BMW, two Mercedes-Benz, and a Nissan GTR, as well as other vehicles.
"The reason for the seizures was that the owners had not renewed their road tax or did not have valid insurance coverage," the post stated.

In addition, under the supervision of Sarawak Road Transport Department Director Norizan Jili, officers inspected 1,229 vehicles of various types during the operation and issued 322 violation notices involving various offenses.
The post added that the detected violations included driving without a valid license, expired licenses, use of non-compliant HID and LED headlights, and other technical offenses.
"Enforcement operations will be carried out continuously as a measure to educate and increase public awareness of traffic rules so as to jointly protect road safety," the post pointed out.
