(Manila, 6th) The Southern Police District of the Philippines showcased their "three-minute quick response" capability during a joint operation in Makati City, successfully rescuing a Vietnamese woman and arresting three Chinese suspects.

According to the Southern Police District report, the rescue operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday in the San Lorenzo area of Makati City, led by the Makati City Police Station, in coordination with the Police Intelligence Group, District Mobile Force, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, and Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit.

The three suspects, aged 32, 33, and 38, are identified as Lei, Xing, and Zhou, with their names disclosed as aliases to protect the investigation.

Items confiscated from the suspects included a 9mm Taurus pistol with a silencer and five bullets, a .22 caliber Jennings pistol also with a silencer and five bullets, six small packets of suspected methamphetamine, one large packet with approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a small bottle of suspected "liquid ecstasy," a pair of handcuffs, counterfeit currency, a Hyundai Starex van, six car keys, two mobile phones, and several drug-related tools.

Background checks revealed that Lei is a repeat offender with past involvements in kidnapping, illegal detention, illegal possession of firearms, and carjacking, and is suspected to be a member of an international organized crime group.

According to preliminary investigations, on June 2, the suspects lured the victim to Makati City under the pretense of a meeting. Upon her arrival at a friend's apartment in Bel-Air, she was forcibly abducted by the suspects, then taken to another apartment in San Lorenzo where she was sexually assaulted.

The following day, the suspects took her to Tagaytay, where they assaulted her again, drugged her, and filmed inappropriate videos, before bringing her back to Makati for extortion purposes.

The suspects demanded a ransom of 500 million Vietnamese Dong (approximately 1 million Philippine Pesos) from the victim's husband abroad, threatening severe abuse if the ransom was not paid. The victim's husband immediately relayed the threats to his friend in the Philippines, who promptly reported to the police, leading to the execution of the rescue operation.

During the operation, a Filipino woman attempted to mislead the police by claiming there was no one inside the house, but later admitted there was another woman inside during questioning. As the police were preparing to enter, they heard the sound of a suspect loading a firearm, prompting them to call for reinforcement.

The three suspects are now detained at the Makati City Police Station's detention facility, facing charges for illegal drug possession, kidnapping for ransom, rape, illegal firearm possession, and human trafficking.
