(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th)—On July 27, the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Association hosted a two-hour calligraphy exchange event at its “Siyuan Hall” in Kg Rimba, attracting calligraphy enthusiasts to gather together and share the unique charm of Chinese calligraphy art.
This event, promoted by Vice Presidents Bao Pingsheng and Shen Renxiang, featured participants exchanging ideas and skills, creating a lively and harmonious atmosphere. Committee members Zheng Xiaoling, Fang Lili, Fang Xiufei, and the students wielded their brushes, practiced classic calligraphic rubbings, and exchanged insights into calligraphy. The event not only enhanced the participants' skills, but also deepened their understanding and love for Chinese traditional culture.
The association hopes that through such exchanges, more people can appreciate the profound heritage of Chinese culture and find peace and joy within through calligraphy. Unlike past events, this session focused on interaction and sharing rather than classroom teaching, creating a friendlier and more natural environment. Now, whenever friends want to write calligraphy, they think of Siyuan Hall as everyone's home. The association plans to continue organizing similar activities in the future, providing a platform for local calligraphy enthusiasts to learn and showcase their talents.
The participating students unanimously expressed that they gained a lot—not only improving their calligraphy skills, but also making like-minded friends through the exchange.
One participant commented emotionally: “Today’s event made me realize that calligraphy is not just art, it is also a way to cultivate oneself.”
Association President Yang Zhensheng is committed to promoting traditional Chinese culture, and in recent years has successfully held numerous calligraphy events, competitions, and international exchange projects, including the “5th Overseas Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition” and “Silk Road Art Exchange,” all of which received widespread praise. This calligraphy exchange event once again demonstrated the association’s persistent efforts in cultural heritage, while also invigorating the art exchanges between China and Brunei.
