Lianzhong Xiongxing Flying Cultural Entertainment Night Opens - Lee Kim Shin: Youth Carry Sarawak's Future

(Miri, 20th) Sarawak Minister of Transport and State Assemblyman for Senadin, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, stated that youths are not only the pillars of the nation's future but also the hope for Sarawak's next phase of development. He encouraged students to bravely pursue their dreams, not to fear challenges, and to inject positive energy into society through concrete actions, bringing change to their homeland.
He expressed this in his speech at the opening ceremony of Lian Lyu Middle School's 2025 "Xiongxing Flying" Cultural Entertainment Night yesterday evening.
"I would like to thank the board of Lian Lyu Middle School and the teaching team for their hard work. It is because of your selfless dedication that Lian Lyu Middle School has been able to continue developing and progressing, becoming an outstanding cradle of talent in the region."

Lee Kim Shin also paid tribute to all the student performers, saying that what they demonstrated was not only talent, but also passion, perseverance, and team spirit.
He said that Lian Lyu Middle School excels not only academically but also shines in the fields of arts, sports, and technological competitions, embodying the school's philosophy of "holistic education."
He remarked that extracurricular activities are an important part of student growth, cultivating team spirit, perseverance, and a comprehensive set of skills. He encouraged young students to boldly pursue their dreams and actively participate in various extracurricular activities, learning and growing into pillars of society with a sense of responsibility.
"Every performance tonight, every smile under the stage lights, is a mark of student growth and the result of teachers' nurturing. The cultural night not only provides a platform for students to showcase their talents, but also demonstrates the school's emphasis on character, cultural cultivation, and comprehensive abilities."

It is worth mentioning that tonight’s event was also graced by the arrival of Vice Principal Chen Wanyan, along with 7 teachers and 18 students from Pingnan Huaqiao Middle School in Fujian Province, China, symbolizing the deepening of cross-national cultural and educational exchange. Lee Kim Shin extended his welcome and believes such educational and cultural exchanges not only demonstrate Lian Lyu Middle School’s open and inclusive educational vision, but also build cross-national bridges of understanding and cooperation between Sarawak and China.
"Education knows no borders, and culture resonates universally. Such interaction will deepen mutual understanding, enrich teaching experience, and inspire students’ awareness and respect for multiculturalism."
Lee Kim Shin also specially mentioned that July 22 is “Sarawak Day,” marking a significant historical moment as Sarawak freed itself from colonial rule and advanced towards self-governance. He hopes Sarawak youth remember this day every year, deepen their understanding of history, and continue to pass on the Sarawakian spirit of “unity, diversity, autonomy, and progress” within schools.
He hopes that young students bravely pursue their dreams, fear no challenge, and light up their future with their own efforts, becoming a force for social progress.
