A fatal traffic accident occurred on China’s Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway, leaving nine dead and seven injured.
According to China Central Television News, at around 10 p.m. on Saturday (December 6), two consecutive rear-end collisions involving vehicles occurred about 1 kilometer apart near kilometer marker K3906 of the G30 Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway (about 70 kilometers from the urban area of Usu City, Tacheng Prefecture, Xinjiang). The accidents involved five large vehicles and seven small vehicles, resulting in a total of nine deaths and seven injuries. The injured were rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
After the accident, the main leaders of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Party Committee and Government immediately made arrangements and deployments, instructing rescue teams to do their utmost to free trapped people, organize expert teams to make every effort to treat the injured, minimize casualties as much as possible, quickly ascertain the cause of the accident, and carry out the aftermath work thoroughly and carefully.
Tacheng Prefecture and Usu City immediately activated emergency response mechanisms, mobilizing police, emergency management, firefighting, health, and other departments to the scene to conduct rescue operations. Relevant departments from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, including public security, emergency management, transportation, and health, have formed a working group that has rushed to the scene. The treatment of the injured, investigation of the cause of the accident, and post-accident arrangements are all being carried out in an orderly manner.

It is understood that at the time of the accident, localized sudden fog occurred on the road section, and the nighttime ground temperature in the area dropped below zero, resulting in wet and icy road surfaces within a short period.
According to public information, the Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway (abbreviated as “Lianhuo Expressway,” National Expressway Network Number G30), is a highway in China connecting Lianyungang City in Jiangsu Province to Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
