(Luoyang, Henan, 28th) As the rotating chair of ASEAN, Malaysia adheres to this year's theme of 'Inclusivity and Sustainability' and explores potential areas of cooperation with other ASEAN countries and China through the China-ASEAN Center.
Malaysia is leveraging the platform of the ASEAN chairmanship to promote China-ASEAN cooperation in education and technology.
Malaysian Embassy in China Minister Noor Farina pointed out that our country has always actively supported and promoted cooperation between China and ASEAN through the said center, including cultural exchanges, people-to-people connections, and education and training.
'In line with the theme (of Malaysia as the rotating chair of ASEAN) of 'Inclusivity and Sustainability,' we are committed to exploring the expansion of potential areas, such as educational training, which includes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), artificial intelligence, the latest quantum technology, and aerospace.'
She said this in an interview with Bernama after attending the 2025 China-ASEAN Media Cooperation Forum held recently.
Noor Farina noted that the Chinese government is actively recruiting Malaysian students, including offering scholarships, while our country is also working hard to attract Chinese students to pursue their studies in Malaysia.
She said Malaysia has 20 public colleges and 400 private colleges, and as of 2024, our country has a total of 47,000 Chinese students.
The China-ASEAN Center is an intergovernmental international organization jointly established by China and the 10 ASEAN countries. On November 18, 2011, at the 20th anniversary of the establishment of dialog relations between China and ASEAN, leaders of China and the 10 ASEAN countries, along with the ASEAN Secretary-General, jointly unveiled the center, officially establishing it.
As a one-stop information and activity center, the center is dedicated to promoting friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between China and ASEAN in areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, and information media.
This forum was co-organized by the center and the China International Publishing Group, with the theme 'Promote 'Intelligence' and 'Quality', Write a New Chapter of Cooperation with 'Digital'.'
