No Ceasefire Requested as Iran Prepares to Face Ground Invasion

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated on the 5th that Iran has not requested a ceasefire and is prepared to respond to a ground invasion by US forces.

During a video interview with NBC in Tehran, he said that although the US and Israel have launched airstrikes across Iran, Iran has not made a request for a ceasefire.

He said that since the US attacked Iran during negotiations both last year and this year, Iran has no reason to engage further with "those who lack sincerity and are not negotiating in good faith."

When discussing a possible US ground offensive, Araghchi said: "We are waiting for them because we are confident in confronting them, and it will be a disaster for them."

In response to reports that US President Trump claimed he would "personally participate" in selecting Iran's new leader, Araghchi emphasized, "This is absolutely a matter for the Iranian people; no one can interfere."

According to the American news website Axios, Trump said in a phone interview with the outlet that day that he "must personally participate" in Iran's next leadership appointment, and stated he would refuse to accept a
