The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a statement that a strong earthquake struck Mindanao, Philippines at 7:03 AM today (17th), with a magnitude of 6.3.
The department indicated that the epicenter was located at 9.8°N latitude and 126.2°E longitude, about 76 kilometers east of Surigao City, Philippines, with a depth of 52 kilometers.
The meteorological department stated that this earthquake does not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia.
