From Follower to Leader: China Builds the World's Most Complete Wind Power Industry Chain

According to a report by China Central Television on the 31st, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's wind power has transformed from a 'follower' to a 'leader,' blossoming both in high-altitude and offshore sectors, with multiple core indicators steadily ranking first in the world. Just how advanced is China's wind power industry?

On January 5, 2026, in Yibin, Sichuan, the world's first urban megawatt-level airborne wind power generation system (S2000) reached 2,000 meters in stable operation, with a single-day output of 385 kilowatt-hours, setting a new industry record right out of the gate.

In September 2025, the world's largest '5,000-square-meter working umbrella' was deployed to Inner Mongolia for testing, ushering in a new journey of large-scale development! High-altitude wind power has demonstrated its full advantages, holding complete intellectual property rights across the entire industry chain, and is pushing the operational altitude from 3,000 meters toward 5,000 meters.

China's wind power "going out" continues to accelerate. Data shows that China's wind power equipment has an annual compound growth rate of over 50%, with a cumulative export of more than 20 million kilowatts, covering 57 countries and regions.

Currently, China has built the world's largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system. The combined installed capacity of wind and solar power accounts for nearly half of the global total, with wind power leading the world in installed capacity for 15 consecutive years.

Today, China has formed the most complete wind power industry chain in the world and is entering a new era with over 100 million kilowatts of new installed capacity added annually.
