A report reveals that China's electrification rate has already exceeded that of the major developed economies in Europe and the US.

According to Yicai, the China Electricity Council released the China Annual Electrification Development Report 2025 at the 2025 New Power System Development Forum on the 24th.

The report shows that in 2024, China's electrification rate is approximately 28.8%, an increase of 0.9% over the previous year, already higher than the major developed economies in Europe and the US.

By 2030, China's electrification rate is expected to reach around 35%, exceeding the average level of OECD countries by 8 to 10%.

By region, in 2024, the electrification rates of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta region, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle reached about 21.4%, 34.1%, 41.7%, and 29.5% respectively, up by 0.4%, 0.9%, 0.9%, and 1.6% over the previous year. Among them, the Greater Bay Area's overall electricity consumption in 2024 is on par with that of Japan.
