Cooperation with Gawai Dayak Celebration Activities Visiting the Sunflower Centre Caring for Special Children

(Miri, 15th) In conjunction with the 2025 Miri Division Gawai Dayak celebration activities, the Resident of Miri, Galong anak Luang, visited the Miri Sunflower Special Children Rehabilitation Centre (PDK Sunflower Centre) this morning, extending care and blessings in a friendly visit.

This visit was organized by the Miri Division Gawai Dayak Celebration Committee, aiming to show tangible concern for special children and to kick off the forthcoming series of Gawai Dayak celebration activities.

The committee chairman, Caroline Siburat, expressed her gratitude to all parties for their enthusiastic response to the visit activity, especially to the Resident of Miri, Galong anak Luang, who took the time out of his busy schedule to attend, demonstrating a high level of attention and support for special children.

She also thanked the two advisors of the Gawai Dayak Celebration Committee, Pemanca Alexander Isut and Penghulu Wilfred Mac, for assisting in conveying the committee's intention to donate to the Miri Sunflower Special Children Rehabilitation Centre.

She pointed out that the Miri Sunflower Special Children Rehabilitation Centre currently has about 90 students, most of whom are children with autism and Down syndrome. Under the guidance of 17 teachers and supervisors, the children continue to grow in life skills and showcase their talents in music and dance.

She also mentioned that the children of the Sunflower Special Children Rehabilitation Centre love to perform dances and sing karaoke. Based on this visit, the committee will donate 10 banquet tables and 50 plastic chairs for the centre's use, expressing care through tangible actions.

Caroline, on behalf of the organizing unit, also thanked the sponsors of this event, including Borneo Safety Training Services Sdn Bhd (BSTS) for sponsoring gift packs worth RM1200, the Miri Iban Community Leaders Association for sponsoring 10 banquet tables and 50 plastic chairs worth RM4100, and Fastart Sdn Bhd for fully sponsoring refreshments for 140 people worth RM2100.

She also expressed her gratitude to the chairman of Miri Sunflower Special Children Rehabilitation Centre, Samson Bala Palaba, and all the staff for the warm reception, as well as the representatives of the 12 subordinate associations, media friends, and all the committee members for their hard work.

"This event is the starting point of our series of Gawai Dayak activities, and we hope to express the community's attention and support for special groups, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere for the upcoming celebrations.”

Before the end of the event, the guests also visited the students' talent shows and handicraft displays.
