International Energy Agency: Logistical Disruptions Pose Challenges, but Global Oil Supply Remains Sufficient

Published at Mar 07, 2026 02:03 pm
IEA chief Fatih Birol stated on the 6th that logistical disruptions caused by conflict in the Middle East are presenting challenges for many countries, but the supply of oil in global markets remains sufficient.

He made these remarks while attending a meeting in Brussels convened by the EU regarding the current state of global energy markets.

When asked by the media whether the IEA is considering using emergency oil reserves, Birol said, "All options are on the table," but at this stage, there is no plan to use them.

He pointed out that there is no issue of oil shortages at present; the current challenge lies in temporary logistical disruptions.
