Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar explained that our country's assistance to Myanmar is based on the stance of ensuring regional peace and stable economic growth, to avoid increasing the burden on our neighbors.
"Some people wrote, questioning why we are busy helping Myanmar when there are also impoverished people in our country, asking why we are assisting Myanmar, such as by setting up field hospitals."
"These individuals forget that there are 200,000 Rohingya in Malaysia, and if this issue is not resolved, the smuggling of opium will escalate, as the negotiations between the two countries and the negotiations between ASEAN and these countries are limited."
He stated this while speaking at the Ministry of Finance's monthly gathering today.
